The Rhinelander High School Alpine ski team competed in the fourth Northern Conference race of the year held at Indianhead Mountain in Bessemer, Michigan.
The slalom proved to be a struggle for the Hodags, who had some of their top skiers encounter setbacks near the end of the course. The RHS boys' placed third overall while the girls' finished fourth on the day.
Duncan Seidel had strong runs in both the giant slalom and Super G, finishing third in both events. He placed 14th in slalom, but was still able to edge William McKlansky (Wausau West) and Austin Flores (Ashwabay) by one point for third place overall in the boys' division.
Breyden Luebke also earned a top-10 finish and placed seventh overall after securing a fifth-place finish in the slalom. John Krueger finished 25th overall, Luke Fritz placed 30th, and Mitchell Ewan charted 32nd.
On the girls' side McKenzie Imm finished in fourth place overall after falling to sixth place in the slalom after missing the second to last gate. Imm finished second in the giant slalom and placed fifth in the Super G.
Cayla Fritz who was still is not 100% after illness, battled through to finish 13th on the day for the RHS girls'. Haley Seefedlt placed 18th, Tori Roberts charted 20th, Alexis Pyrchalla finished 22nd, and Marisa McGuire charted 26th.
In girls' snowboarding, Kaiya Shrader finished second overall on the day. Shrader won the boarder slalom and also finished second in the giant slalom. But Elizabeth Mikulich (Wausau West) was able to edge Shrader by 0.07 seconds in the boardercross and earn the overall title.
Colin White on the boys' snowboarding side finished in third place overall after winning boardercross. White fell to sixth in the giant slalom which dropped his overall finish. Brandon Carlson also recorded a fourth-place finish for the Hodags.
Rhinelander will be back in action on Saturday when they close out their Northern Conference season at Ski Brule.
