KANSAS CITY, MO – RHS Senior Mike Cinfio placed seventh in the 12th Grade 148-pound bracket over the weekend to take All-American Honors at the Brute Adidas Folkstyle Nationals at Municipal Auditorium in Downtown Kansas City.
Cinfio, making his second trip to Nationals had a win, two losses and two-byes at the event.
He lost to Codie Bontz (Kansas) on a late third period pin in the championship quarterfinals. He received a bye into the consolation quarterfinals where he was pinned by Devyn Schake (Nebraska) in 2:37.
That put him into the seventh place match against Cody Stewart (Arkansas), which he won with a first period pin.
It was Cinfio's first All-American recognition. He did not place in the top eight in the tournament last year.
