MADISON – Rhinelander’s Claire Tracy qualified 32nd and was the last person to make the field for Sunday’s Wisconsin High School Sprint Championships in front of the State Capitol.
Tracy was eliminated in the quarterfinals in the final event of the season for the RHS Nordic Ski Team. She finished eighth of eight in her quarterfinal.
It was part of a two-day race weekend in Madison for Hodag Nordic. On Saturday the Hodags took part in the Sprint Relay Championships. The Hodag Boys finished fourth in their semifinal and the RHS Girls were fifth. Neither team advanced to the finals.
Tracy qualified for the championship bracket Sunday with a qualifying time of 5:34.1 around the 750-meter track.
Hillary Wall was 39th (5:58.5), Anne Dobbins was 48th (6:18.8), Bailey Lieck finished 60th (7:00.4), Taylor Preul finished 62nd (7:03.7) and Lindsey Lieck was 65th (7:30.5).
On the Boys side, Andrew Kroll just missed out on qualifying for the quarterfinals, finishing 33rd with a 5:02.5, 1.5 seconds away from making the field of 32. Tad Schmidt was 39th (5:33.4), Kyle Prahl was 40th (5:35.4) and Andy Emond took 44th (6:13.8).
