NORTH CONWAY, NH – Rhinelander High School Senior Shane Polzin fared well over the weekend at the Eastern High School Championships at Mt. Cranmore in New Hampshire.
Polzin placed 34th out of the 93 skiers that completed both runs of the slalom and 54th out of 99 skiers that completed the lone run of the giant slalom.
The first run of Slalom was the best for Polzin, as he was 34th with a time of 49.76 seconds, 3.89 seconds off the pace. That was the fourth best time among skiers on Team Wisconsin.
Polzin dropped to 57th in the second run with a time of 56.41, but his aggregate time of 1:46.17 was 34th overall, and again fourth best on Team Wisconsin.
In the Giant Slalom, Polzin took 54th in the Giant slalom with a time of 54.24 seconds, 4.86 seconds off the pace.
Polzin repeated as Northern Ski League Champion this winter and finished sixth at State to earn a spot on team Wisconsin. He was Rhinelander’s ninth representative on Team Wisconsin in the last 11 years. Kip Hanson was the most recent in 2006.
