RHINELANDER - Kids at the James Williams Middle School will be up and active on Wednesday Morning participating in their choice of a three-kilometer run, or a fitness walk around James Williams Middle School.
The event will take place Wednesday, May 2, beginning at 9:00 AM. Approximately 340 students will take part in the 3K run accorinding to JWMS Physical Education Instructor Bill Makris.
"This is a promotion through McDonald's," Makris says. "(where)if your whole school participates in an activity, the school is eligible to win some prizes."
Rhinelander Mayor Dick Johns will read a proclamation prior to the event. The honorary starter will be long-tenured teacher Amy Johnson, who is retiring following this school year. The Rhinelander Fire Department is also scheduled to be on the route, to cool down the kids.
Activites continue later in the afternoon at the middle school. The May Day Tug of War Event is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
